Encouragements to pray

Further thoughts on prayer

While we appreciate being able to intercede in prayer, we also cherish a personal relationship with the Lord himself.  We encourage you, also, to consider regular dependence on him in prayer, if you have not already done so.

The Lord hears every prayer of his people.  He knows best how to answer, and when to answer, even if we often cannot see how it all works together.  Sometimes he answers our prayers immediately, sometimes later on, and sometimes he answers ‘no.’

If he has answered by giving what you have requested, remember to praise him for what he has done.  If he has shown you that his answer is ‘no’, the request may not have been his will, or it may have been from a selfish motive.

Yet, he has encouraged us with the promise to "take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desire." (Psalm 37v4)
He goes on: "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him and he will help you. (Psalm 37v5)
